The Department of Cinematic Arts congratulates Pat Brown (PhD in Film Studies, 2019), whose essay “The Hands of the Other: Media Allegory in Bioshock and The Hands of Orlac” has been selected as the Best Essay in an Edited Collection by the Society for Cinema and Media Studies this year.  Pat’s essay appears in the third edition of Beyond the Sea: Navigating Bioshock, edited by Felan Parker and Jessica Aldred (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2018). 

Pat, who received his PhD last month, will receive his award at the annual awards ceremony at this year’s SCMS conference in Denver in early April.
