Congratulations to Ben Coldwell , for receiving the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from the Council on Teaching!

Ben Coldwell attended Colorado College as an undergraduate where he majored in film & media studies and neuroscience. Ben is a current master's student in film studies and researches queer genres and experimental film and television. He is particularly interested in the lineages of avant-garde and horror in 21st century extreme cinema. As a teaching assistant of Cinematic Arts courses, Ben wants to help students develop tools for contextualization and close reading as they formulate original, surprising arguments around topics of race, gender, and sexuality on screen. He hopes to inspire students' scholarship and creativity by encouraging them to explore unfamiliar genres, periods, and global movements.
