On Friday, May 24th, 2019, Michael Wawzenek’s film Teeth Tongue will screen at the Montreal Underground Film Festival and in July, 2019, Michael will screen his film at the Festival ECRÃ in Rio de Janeiro.

MUFF celebrates low-budget filmmaking and promotes those who challenge the constraints and conventions of mainstream Hollywood. MUFF has morphed into a collective of independent filmmakers, writers, teachers and cinephiles committed to seeking out edgy films bristling with a sense of creative freedom, energy and experimentation. Films in any way affiliated with a major motion picture studio, and “calling-card” films (that is, slick, thinly disguised shout-outs to the commercial industry), are ineligible.

In July, the Rio de Janeiro audience receives the third edition of the ECRÃ Festival, an event dedicated to avant-garde and experimental cinema that will take place at the Cinemateca do MAM, from 11 to 21, and at the SESC Rio units, from 11 to 28.
