Stephen Wardell will screen his video Uriah Plays the Alien in the Wishful Images program at The Moving Image Research Centre at the University of East London.

Wishful Images presents works that envisage, address and/or document ways of being and acting together, that propose collective ways out of the present moment marked by multiple crises, including a return of old tribalisms and politics of hate, increasing precarity and social inequalities, and looming climate catastrophe. Despite this pessimistic outlook, the present moment also contains within it the seeds for a different kind of world, and it is through identifying, amplifying and connecting moments of resistance, solidarity and shared creativity with local communities that these seeds can find a common ground in which to take hold and grow.
