Lindsay Vella, MFA
Lindsay Vella is the Departmental Administrator for the Department of Cinematic Arts, providing strategic operational oversight and ensuring operational stability, structure, and continuity. She works closely with the Departmental Executive Officer (DEO) to advise on and implement strategic priorities, manage special projects, troubleshoot issues, build an inclusive and positive environment, and ensure that policies and procedures are followed. She is responsible for the staff and staffing structure, as well as for managing the administrative needs and daily operations for the department. She oversees functions related to human resources, finance, facilities, information technology, and marketing and communications, and serves as a key liaison with stakeholders across the college and university.
Previously, Lindsay worked with seven other units in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, including African American Studies, American Studies, Classics, the Division of Interdisciplinary Programs, Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies, the Magid Center for Writing, and Religious Studies. She currently serves as a member of the Administrative Leadership Team's Executive Committee and as Vice President of CLAS Staff Council.
Lindsay has an MFA in Creative Writing from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a BA in English with a sub-concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan. Her poems have appeared in DIAGRAM, Bat City Review, Black Warrior Review, Tupelo Quarterly, Sugar House Review, and others.
