Get to Know Kaia

CK Olsen is an EMMY®-winning filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist with an MFA from the University of Illinois (Chicago). Kaia’s creative practice explores haptic poetry and embodied narrativity through experimental mergers of moving image, performance, digital media, and sculptural form. Kaia’s work has resulted in five PBS television specials (including The Artsiders®, and Beneath The White City Lights), four Midwest Emmy® nominations, three evening length theatrical performances (Mandinga, Mearra, and Txai), two lauded animated series (VeggieTales® and Threads™), and numerous exhibitions across the country and in Europe, including at the 1Reel Bumbershoot (Seattle), Alma Gallery, Clinton Presidential Library, Gallery 400, Harris Theater for Dance, Hollyshorts Film Fest, Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI), Little Rock Film Fest, MECA Gallery (Almeria/Andalusia), Miami Short Film Fest, Muestra Internacional de Videonarración ARTográfica (Spain), Music Box Theatre (Chicago), North Shore Center for the Performing Arts (Skokie), Paris Play Film Fest (France), Rhode Island International Film Fest, Sidewalk Film Fest (Birmingham), and Sunday Shorts Film Fest (UK). In his spare time, Kaia enjoys long walks down dark alleys and unwinding with a well-made masala-style chai.
