Platte has published a chapter on George Gershwin's musical contributions to Shall We Dance (1937) and A Damsel in Distress (1937) in The Cambridge Companion to Gershwin.

Harris will have his award-winning, canonical film still/here (2000) screened as part of a retrospective program on the history of Black Cinema (Shades of Black) at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland this August.
